Since his research fellowship in Dr. Belzer’s organ preservation lab, Dr. D’Alessandro has been an advocate for innovative organ perfusion and preservation techniques. He led the first normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) liver preservation in the United States and has trained countless staff to cannulate livers and kidneys for machine perfusion as well as set up and run the Organox Metra NMP device. Use of these devices is the future of OPOs and transplant centers and will make more organs available for transplantation.
Dr. D’Alessandro has overseen research projects primarily using
6 to 8 kg and nonhuman primate (NHP) models to study immunology, graft function, and Xenografts. He welcomes the opportunity to discuss your organization’s specific research needs.
